Both contemporary science and spiritual traditions confirm that silence holds the key to an immense source of power that may expand human consciousness. Silence opens the door to the deepest levels of knowing and being. Silence is the gateway to Oneness.
In the realm of science, quantum physicists have discovered a vast field of potential, of unlimited possibilities known as the Zero Point Field. Within that field everything is space—not particles creating mass or form but waves of pure energy existing as potential and possibility. At that levelthe Field is all energy with no matter– nothing but waves with potential to create form and mass. There is no sound. All is silence. Every point existings at that level –every air molecule, every point in space—begins within this vast field of energy, the energy of pure potential. This level of energy could power the world.
The Zero Point Field is a field of consciousness, a field of nothing and yet potentially everything. It’s the Source of all that is. The field has been described as a plenum—full of energy ready to be molded. The scientist uses mathematics and mind to find the Field. We may find it by dropping into silence and feeling withour hearts for this vast, deep landscape of silence. From this place we tap into our own Power of One and the universal Power of Oneness. It is ours to mold and shape and create.
Deep, quantum silence is where all that is began and continually begins.In the beginning, before sound there was silence– a cosmic field of silence, consciousness, out of which thought emerged, intention was formed, and patterns began to take shape. Sound—vibration and frequency– began to create physical mass. Waves of thought became particles of energy that began to manifest our universe. First, form was particles of light taking geometric shapes, ever more complex and beautiful as they grew, creating patterns, making connections, drawing other particles forth and to each other, beginning the dance of creating life.
Imagine the infinite varieties of crystalline shapes like snowflakes or drops of water under a microscope. See the circles, squares, and triangles take on dimension, forming cubes and stars and dodecahedrons. What begin in silence then vibrated into sound, became form, manifesting from waves to particles, becoming more dense as they moved through the ethers into Earth’s atmosphere.
We can imagine life beginning in multiple dimensions throughout the universe. Scientists have been exploring these dimensions in string theory, trying to discover and prove what the human heart and spirit already know: that deep within ourselves we find the still point out of which all begins to manifests, that we are co-creators of the worlds we inhabit, for better or for worse. We think we live in a three-dimensional world, but we are multi-dimensional beings interconnected with all that is. We are one and are continually drawn into relationship with all that is.
Knowing that at a very deep level, perhaps not yet even consciously, we find the still point within to center ourselves, to find the inner peace, the wholeness, beyond time and space. There we can meditate or simply hold ourselves by our breath within the silence. Through silence, we can enter the Field that gives birth to all life.
