| About myself |
Former teacher, community mental health practitioner, author of broad-based wellness curricula. Have had an evolving interest in the well-being of youth, families and society from my first year teaching when I had a 7th grade girl in my class who didn’t speak for the first three months. In the late 70’s, had an opportunity to work for a time with a principal consultant to Keep America Beautiful who at the time was employing similar social change strategies to help pioneer the wellness movement. This experience, along w/a series of others that followed, provided a foundation of interest and possibility in broad-based social change at a global level. |
| My Power of One Story |
Last year (2009) while visiting in Vermont, my friend played a track of a CD by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole (IZ) singing “Over the Rainbow” and “What A Wonderful World.” Between the two songs, IZ spoke in pigeon English of the opportunity one day of humanity relating as one family that takes care of everyone. I was in tears, and on that day crafted a film concept titled “Be One – Awaken the Dreamer” that would deliver such a palpable experience of being one that audiences would be in tears as the film began and not want to leave the theater as film ended. In short order, the vision evolved into four “trim tabs” designed to leverage a paradigm shift in 2011 that would empower this nation and the world to begin relating as Earth As One in 2012. |
| My Power of One Vision |
I envision leveraging four paradigm shifts in 2011 sufficient to provide a foundation for humanity to begin to relate as one in 2012. I believe a transformating event applied to each in sequence could foster an experience of Being One sufficient to reach a near term “tipping point” in our ability to serve all life. • January 20-27, 2011 – Suggested by the Dali Lama, an unprecedented gathering of all Heads of State and Indigenous Nations and their families as a week-long “vacation” to experience their Oneness. • May 20, 2011 – A motion picture film event titled Be One – Awaken the Dreamer! imbedded with a new series of We Are the World concerts whereby teary-eyed audiences will so palpably experience Being One they will be reluctant to leave the theater. • August 20-27, 2011 – A Global Turning Summit designed to identify alternatives to the existing context by which we practice commerce, military and politics in pursuit of a more equitable model that fosters an enduring, global commitment to absolute honesty, balance, and sustainable global wellbeing. • January 20, 2012 – Upon this foundation, a historic invitation birthed by the most powerful nation in the world. Reminiscent of the late President John F. Kennedy’s challenge on May 25, 1961 to place a man on the moon and return him safely to earth in a decade – President Obama on the 2nd anniversary of his inauguration would challenge this nation (with its own violence at home and aboard at local to corporate, military and political levels) to commit to a broad-based, social-change initiative akin to the sustained success of “Keep America Beautiful” – this time to Make America Violence-Free. |
